What Is The Best Age To Start Swimming Lessons?

Most children start with swimming classes when they are 4 years old. They are old enough to learn basic swimming skills, such as floating and treading water. 

The next step is a front crawl, which they can learn by the age of 5 or 6.

There are baby swimming classes with the parents, but these are usually not for them to learn swimming, as they are too young. It is more of getting the toddler used to the water and having some fun.

Not every child is the same, so you should decide if your kid is ready for swimming lessons. Some might not be ready at the age of 4, which is fine

You could visit some classes and see what they teach in the class, and then decide if your child can do it.

In general, it is important that they start swimming lessons when they are toddlers to learn water safety skills. Above the age of 4, everyone can start to learn swimming, no matter how old you are!

How Much Do Swimming Classes In Ireland Cost?

Adult swimming lessons in a group in Ireland cost around €15 to €30 per class. 

You can decide to pay separately for each class or book lessons for several weeks. This definitely makes sense if you are eager to learn to swim quickly.

For children, it can be around the same price range. 

If you take an 8 or 10-week course, it can be around €12 per class, which is the cheapest you can find for group lessons. 

The prices of private swimming classes vary a lot, but you can expect them to start at €35 per session, so about double the price of a group class.

It’s understandable to want to save money, but as the saying goes, “you get what you pay for”.

Probably you already have a swimming pool you go to from time to time. You can check online or go there and ask them whether they offer swimming lessons.

Another place where you could find swimming lessons is at a fitness centre, which has a swimming pool. 

As a member of the gym, you can access the swimming pool.
